Information Systems and Engineering (ISE 2002)

The Internet and the Web have undoubtedly contributed in changing how people perform work. More and more work is taking place in heterogeneous environments where people, information and working processes are distributed. The involved activities are often dynamic and cooperative, and includes multiple actors with different kinds of needs. In these settings, it is important to help people coordinate their activities, share documents and information, and manage access to shared resources.

This special session on cooperative database and Web-based systems - to be held in conjunction with the 2002 International Symposium on Information Systems and Engineering at the SCSC'02, July 14-18, 2002 in San Diego, California, USA - will focus on the area of cooperative and distributed databases, and emerging distributed and mobile object technologies and environments. The aim is to have a dedicated session that fosters closer interactions among researchers and users communities, providing an excellent opportunity for them to meet and discuss their ideas.

We invite original contributions from researchers in academia, research laboratories, and computer industry on these emerging and important areas of information technology.

Authors are invited to submit original papers to the special session organizers by March 5th 2002. Electronic (postscript or pdf) submissions are encouraged and should be sent to heri@idi.ntnu.no or mads@idi.ntnu.no. For other electronic formats, please check with the organizers. All submitted manuscripts will have at least two reviews. Papers should not exceed 5000 words. Include up to 5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 250 words. Submissions should also include the title, authors name, affiliation, e-mail address, fax number and postal address. In case of multiple authors, an indication of which author is responsible for correspondence should also be indicated. For non electronic submission, please send four copies of the manuscript to one of the special session co-organizers.
