Information Systems and Engineering (ISE 2002)

July 14 - 18, 2002

US Grant Hotel, San Diego, CA, USA

In Conjunction with The 2002 Summer Computer Simulation Conference (SCSC'02)

(Extended Submission Deadline: March 7, 2002)

Invitation:

You are cordially invited to participate in and attend the International Symposium on Information Systems and Engineering to be held in San Diego, CA, USA July 14-18, 2002 as part of the 2002 Summer Computer Simulation Conference (SCSC'02) sponsored by the Society for Computer Simulation International (SCS). The symposium is to address, explore and exchange information on the state-of-the-art in information technology, engineering, and systems, their modeling and simulation, design and use, and their impact. Participation is encouraged for all researchers, designers, educators and interested parties in all ISE disciplines and specialties.

Purpose:

The symposium will include invited presentations from experts from academia, industry, and government as well as contributed paper presentations describing original work that address the current state of research in information technologies and related issues. The symposium’s intent is to bring together scientists, engineers, practitioners, computer users, and students to share and exchange their experiences, ideas, and research results about all aspects of Information Systems and Engineering modeling, simulation and evaluation, and to discuss challenges encountered and potential solutions sought.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

Information Systems Architectures:

Information Systems Algorithms:

Information Systems Applications:

Submission of Papers:

Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on above and related ISE topics are solicited. Submission should include, on the cover page (an MS Word document), authors names, affiliations, addresses, fax and phone numbers, and email addresses. Please indicate clearly the corresponding author. Include up to 5 keywords (topic area) from the above list, and an abstract of no more than 300 words.

Electronic submissions of manuscripts are requested and will be accepted only in PDF format as attachment. Please submit a copy of your full manuscript (not to exceed 15 double-spaced pages including figures, tables, and references) to: Waleed W. Smari, Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Dayton, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-0226, USA, Voice: (937) 229-2795, Fax: (937) 229-4529, Email: Waleed.Smari@notes.udayton.edu. The subject of the email must be “ISE 2002 Submission.”

Consistent with standard practice, each submitted paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their correctness, originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Initial selection will be based on full papers. Reviewers' comments will be provided to the authors. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. All accepted papers in the Symposium are expected to be presented and will be included in the conference proceedings.

Poster papers will also be accepted. Please indicate whether your paper is full or poster. These short papers will be presented as poster papers. This is to encourage work that is not yet advanced enough for a full paper, novel approaches and ideas, critique of existing work, and application examples.

Workshops and Special Sessions:

Proposals for Special Sessions should be emailed by March 7, 2002. The proposal should include pertinent information such as a title, name and full contact information of organizer, workshop/session description, and submission instructions.

Tutorials:

The symposium will also offer tutorials (2-3 -hour) on the state-of-the-art topics in ISE. Each tutorial proposal should provide a title, topics to be covered, targeted audience, prerequisites, and a brief biography and qualifications of the instructor. Proposals are due by March 7, 2002.

Exhibits and Demonstrations:

Exhibits, demos and experiential showcases of interactive information systems are highly encouraged. These may include any of the themes outlined in the symposium’s topics. Proposals for exhibits and demos are welcomed and should provide a title, short description, and contact information. Deadline is March 7, 2002.

Panels:

A panel session will examine innovative, promising, or controversial ISE issues today. The panel will also address ISE challenges and future prospects. Audience participation will be sought. Panel session ideas, nominations for panelists, and proposals are also solicited and should be submitted with a title and short description along with contact information. Due date is March 7, 2002.
