The Design and Manufacturing Clinic Complex
The Design and Manufacturing Clinic is housed on the
first floor of Kettering Labs (Room 140). This
complex is comprised of a reception area, studio,
conference room and office of the coordinator.
Design and Manufacturing Studio
The heart of the complex is the Design and
Manufacturing Studio. The studio can accommodate about
28 students or 7 student teams. In general the size of
a design class is about 22-25 students. The
number of students on each team is usually 3 or 4.
The studio is equipped with 7 computers linked to the
Internet. Nearly all of the software required for
conducting a project is available on these units.
Presentation equipment covers the range from a Smart
board ™ to overheads, to laptop computers with
associated projection units.
An extensive design and manufacturing equipment
library is also available. Most information required
for products for designs could either be found on the
Internet or in this library. This is available to the
students both during and outside of laboratory times.
Four courses/laboratories use the studio on a regular
basis. The studio is also open during extended hours
for after-hours research and computer aided design.
