Teaching

Teaches courses in mechanical design (lecture and lab), design of systems, advanced mechanical design and senior experimentation lab. Topics include fatigue, stress analysis, materials, design of torque transmitting elements, and the design of mechanical components. Advanced design concentrated on topics including statistics in design, motors, instrumentation, parametric modeling techniques, and finite element analysis using SDRC I-deas. The laboratory sections involve the implementation of the product realization process for projects sponsored by industry.

Coordinator

Serves as Coordinator of the Design and Manufacturing Clinic. Over 120 projects from over 50 companies have been introduced (in all courses) through the clinic since it was formed in 1996. Responsibilities include marketing to companies, developing project summaries to be reviewed by faculty and students, coordination of projects within departments, following progress on all projects, assessing projects with mentors, invoicing sponsors, and providing written reports.
